It’s simple. We come to your local track for the day (or two!) and make you faster!  You may think you’re already fast but Coach Greg Romero proves he can make you better! If we can squeeze an extra 5% of performance out of someone as talented as Olympic Medalist Mike Day, then we can sure as heck do it for you! We really do take you through the same training protocols that our Olympic athletes do from day to day.  During the Power Camp, some of the training protocols that we will demonstrate, educate and have you replicate are:

Proper Dynamic Warm Up and it’s importance

(dynamic what?)

Sprint Training

(is it conditioning or is it speed work?)

Gate Start Mechanics

(huh? an actual mechanic on the gate? what you really should be doing and focusing on)

Bike Handling Technique

(what’s your limiting factor? is it mechanics/bike set up, fear  or conditioning?)

Passing/Race Strategy

(have you ever been in second, passing for first only to get passed by the guy who was in third? that hi low didn’t work did it?

If you’re a track director or on the board of a track and want your BMX membership to actually enjoy their racing so they won’t quit after 2 months, contact us about arranging a date! We will be happy to help! And if you ask, I will even bring along an Olympic Medalist to help out and sign some posters!

Here you will have to visit San Diego and hang out with Coach Greg Romero and have the opportunity to train side by side with the likes of Denzel Stein & Mike Day. Here you will experience the life of a Pro and get one on one coaching. This camp will have a huge emphasis on developing power both on and off the bike to maximize your power repeatability that you will need to win that last lap of the day! We will go over the simple components of on and off the bike power however go deep into them. We will do a full evaluation of technique and apply correction through the latest scientific instruments such as power meters, Brower light beam timing systems (not stop watches), video cameras and DartFish video analysis technology to  measure and analyze.

Strength Training

Specific Strength & Speed Training for BMX  (not strong man competitions or body building)

We will assess overall body structure strengths-weaknesses and choose several exercises that will enhance your power repeatability. Keeping it efficient and effective so you can spend more time on the bike actually getting fast!

Sprint Training

Let’s face it, BMX racing is fun when your top 3 in the first turn. Here we will break down the 3 components of sprint training going over protocols of stand start power, acceleration to the first jump (pedals 2-5) and top end leg speed. Using precise timing devices for testing and video to quantify sprint technique and improvement. We will also educate and take you through a proper dynamic warm up to ensure that your mind and body are synchronized for sprinting. We will also teach you how to interface racing goals during your sprint training!

Gate Start Analysis

Is it hips to the bars or bars to hips? Or is not about the hips? Is it a lower pedal or higher pedal set up that will synchronize your knee/ankle extension in the power phase of your first crank out of the gate? We don’t know, everyone is different! Greg’s analytical mind will help you maximize your efficiency and really quantify it by using both DartFish video technology and light beam timing systems.

Bike Handling Technique

We will go over riding technique using the various and diverse riding spots of San Diego. Here we will invite Mike Day to come ride with us and get his professional opinion on your technique. Again, we will film and find ways to make you more efficient with your technique and offer corrections so that you can get to the finish line at full power.

Training Program Design

This is where we will put it all together for you designing a training plan that fits where you’re at while being very sensitive to your race schedule, short term and long term goals. We will also help you design your own personal performance structure and teach you how to  with it’s respective component goals
